Assisting Clients with Self-Medication
This online Short Course has been designed to assist health professionals in the safe support and assistance of medication for clients in the Community Care environment. The course provides an overview of medication forms, routes, the six “rights’ of medication and the assistance of select medications.
Please note that this course does not provide endorsement to administer medication.
What will I learn?
- Identify the common forms of self-administering medications and medication routes
- Recall the ‘Six Rights’ of medication and the essential parts of a drug order
- Identify what medication support or assistance means in the context of community care workers
- Describe the process of assisting safely with the clients medication
Undertaking this course enables students to meet their Continuing Professional Development obligations and industry update requirements in their profession. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours and a CQUniversity Certificate of Completion.
